What Is Woodworm?
Woodworm is a term used to describe all timber-boring insects that attack wood and timber, causing damage in buildings.
There is a number of timber boring insects that attack wood in properties in the Dumfries & Galloway and surrounding areas such as Moffat, Lockerbie, Dumfries, Annan, Castle Douglas, Thornhil, Gretna,Langholm and even as far as Carlisle and Glasgow with the most common being the ‘Common Furniture Beetle’ (official name Anobium Punctatum) that attacks soft wood. Finding out which Woodworm is present through a survey is extremely important as this defines which woodworm treatment is needed to get rid of the woodworm from the property.
Why is Woodworm a problem?
Woodworm problems usually occurs within the home causing significant damage. The levels of damage to the property are dependent on the size of the woodworm problem, this can mean the loss of the structural integrity if woodworm treatment is not carried out.
