White wool-like substance appearing on wood
White or grey wool-like substance is a Mycelium Growth. It’s the part of fungus that gives it ability to spread extensively throughout the building and indicates an advancing Dry Rot outbreak.

These are Sporophores also called Fruiting Body. They are identifiable by their pizza-like appearance as the round ones tend to be red inside, with a white outer layer full of fungal spores.
